700 homes without power

Yaven Creek is one of the areas that’s been impacted by power outages as a result of the Dunns Road fire.

Over 700 customers are currently without power in Tumbarumba, Batlow, Adelong, Tumut and surrounding areas as a result of fires throughout the area.

Initial indications are that in excess of 22 poles have been destroyed by the fires, and this number is likely to increase as crews can safely assess impacted areas.

At this stage, there is no estimated restoration time as crews have not been able to access the damaged network safely, Essential Energy Acting Operations Manager, Riverina Slopes, Ben Price, said.

“Please be assured that extra crews and equipment are being coordinated now and where necessary will be assisting local crews as soon as the work sit is safe,” Mr Price said.

“Essential Energy reminds the public to stay at least eight metres away from any fallen powerlines and report them to Essential Energy on 13 20 80.”
