THE stage has been set for an exciting music festival which will definitely put Adelong on the annual events listings.

Cec Petersen, co-organiser of the Adda-Long Day Music Bash was very emotional when stepping up to the microphone on Sunday afternoon during the last two hours of the what had been a ‘fantastic’ weekend.

“I have been blown away,” she said. “I would not have been able to do this without the support of my partner Al (Gaff), family and friends, the wonderful performers and of course you the audience,” she said.

She thanked a long list of helpers and artists who performed including the first-time performers Hope for Snow a trio who had travelled all the way from Newcastle.

Ajarla, Troy and Matt formed their group just six months ago and made their debut at the Adda-Long Day, wowing the audiences on both days.

“The bush poets breakfasts were amazing,” Cec said.

And the food and drinks just kept flowing all weekend, the barbecue manned over two days by Cec’s brother.

Very popular was the Saturday night open mic – a chance for anyone to step up and perform.

And on the Saturday the craft market was also a hit – the stallholders were the now-regular vendors at the monthly markets held on the first Saturday of each month – another introduction to the town courtesy of Cec and Al.

Among the artists to perform were ‘Not DiAna’ – she performed on both days but was very popular again on the Sunday; Kylie Adams-Collier – she was extremely popular and not only performed twice during the weekend but also acted as the photographer catching all the action.

Others to perform included Len Connolly – well known Tumut performer also known as Tumut’s own ‘Elvis’; and a group called Rhinestoned.

Of course, the star of the stage was Cec herself who performed some of her own works but also did covers and on Sunday returned to the stage for encores – she said it was her first time for this experience.

Cec has for many years been a member of the group The Rough Diamonds, well known around Sydney, Newcastle and the Blue Mountains districts – now in Adelong where she is home at the Adelong Royal Hotel.

It was congratulations all round and well done to both Al and Cec for a terrific weekend of music, food, friendship and the beginning of what is hoped a long-lived music festival in the heart of the Snowy Valleys.
