Acting, singing and smiling in Batlow

CAST Snowy’s Michael and Ruby McSweeney have a sing at the “fun-raiser” at Batlow RSL Club on Saturday night.

Tumut-based CAST (Community Actors of Small Theatre) Snowy brought some participatory fun to Batlow on Saturday.

Folk young and a bit older (mainly young) practiced signing and acting at the club from the late afternoon and well into the evening.

CAST Snowy members got other members and non-members up to show their wares, and just have fun.

It was thought that this would be a great thing to bring to Batlow given how much the community has suffered due to the Dunns Road fire.

“I want to make it clear that this is not a fundraiser, it’s a fun-raiser,” CAST Snowy chair Michael McSweeney said.

“We’re here to promote theatre and provide opportunities. It’s about breaking tension and putting smiles on faces.”

At least 80 people turned up, including 30 CAST members, and packing up wasn’t completed until about 10.30pm.

“It was a great night,” Mr McSweeney said.

CAST Snowy has an acting workshop coming up at the end of the month.
