THE Annual Tumut Art Exhibition is once again going to be held from the opening gala night on 11 April to 27 April.
It is a well-known exhibition throughout the arts community and attracts accomplished artists from all over NSW, Victoria and Queensland to exhibit their artworks.
The Tumut Art Society is a charitable not for profit organization and could not present such high-quality artworks without their valued local and regional supporters.
The quality of artworks and the level of prizemoney makes the Tumut Art Exhibition one of the most prestigious in New South Wales and Regional Australia and is now in its 67th year.
The generous support of the Bendigo Bank, the general community, Government at both State and Federal levels, and financial donations from businesses and individuals towards the awards always attracts many quality artworks.
The art show is held over two weeks coinciding with Easter each year and has proven to be a drawcard for tourists visiting the region over this busy time.
In 2024 over 1000 people visited the show with good sales achieved.
The art show has hundreds of artworks (paintings and textiles) over nine sections showcasing an outstanding array of subject matter and mediums.
The art show is both a physical and virtual exhibition with over 300 works entered yearly in traditional, experimental and contemporary styles.
Those who cannot attend the physical show can view and buy works online at www.tumutart.com.au.
The judges this year for the art prizes are both from Sydney and are leaders in their fields with many accolades to their names.
The Art Exhibition’s success can also be attributed to the passion, tenacity and commitment of the founders and members.
The success is also partly due to the beauty of the Tumut and surrounding area which inspires artists from all over Australia to make regular pilgrimages to the area where they immerse themselves in painting the local scenery.
Many of these artworks end up in the Tumut Art Exhibition as well as being exhibited nationally and internationally.
Tumut Art Society is committed to running its weekly group programs in the areas of painting, drawing, textiles and mixed media, now and into the future.
TAS also conducts term by term children’s and adult’s art classes.
There is a dedicated printmakers group who meet monthly as well as monthly workshops with visiting professionals in their field.
This year’s Exhibition opens with a gala opening on April 11th at 7pm and will be open every day until 27 April from 10am until 4pm.
