Batlow golfer takes Player of the Year award

CONGRATULATIONS to Derek Burgess who has won the Murray District Player of the Year Trophy for 2024.

Murray District includes the area from Khancoban to Blowering and includes play on sand and grass greens.

Eight Batlow players went to the recent Corryong Tournament.

In the Open Scratch Wayne Dubois came up a winner on a countback from Corryong’s Shane Bannon after they both shot 77 off the stick in regular play.

Andrew Hockey came third in the A Grade Stableford.

Sharon Burgess won the Ladies Straightest Drive.

It is great to see members from a small club having success and enjoying their golf on other courses.

The dryness of the fairways is helping to produce some very high scores.

It is good to see some new members joining the club and playing regularly.

Scores for the 18 holes on 25 February saw S Erwin win from I McCorkindale, with R Canlin third. Nearest the pin on No 3 was A Lavia.

On 1 March with 17 players attending, A Hockey had a win over T Skein.

Nearest the pin on No 3 went to A Hockey and on No 5. S Moreton.

9-Hole winner on 21 February was M Hourigan, second R Canlin whilst I McCorkindale was nearest the pin on No 3.

R Lynch won the 9-Hole competition on 28 February with A Lavia second.

Walwa will be having their annual tournament on 30 March. There is a flyer in the window at the clubhouse and there is a limit of 56 players.
