Bowlers do well at regional tournaments

WELL DONE: Ladies Southern Highlands Team Gail, Sharon, Helen, Sam, Mandy, Deb, Bronwyn and Joy.

THE Tumut Team of Mandy Shoard, Sam Goodman, Deb Akers and Joy Schroder along with the Gundagai team of Sharon Armstrong, Gail Rowland, Helen Lott and Bronwyn Naughton travelled to Cootamundra on the weekend to represent Southern Highlands in the Murray River Shield. 

The ladies finished up fourth in the competition. 

The Murray River Shield is the pinnacle sides event for women on the Riverina Murray Calendar.  

The teams came away with 5 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses overall. 

With everyone playing some great bowls over the weekend.  

Also, four teams of men from the Southern Highlands district including 12 bowlers from club Tumut travelled to Temora over the weekend to compete in the Bing Walder Shield. 

The teams came fifth place on a countback between fourth and sixth and some very good bowls was played by all. 

Super Sunday Bowls saw 19 players on the day. 

Winners were Col Enright, Lyn Malone and Ian Hayne. 

Runners up were Andrew Symons and Anne McCauley bonus draw went to Marg Bye. 

Super Sunday will be on this Sunday February 9 as usual – starting at 10am.

Round 1 of the Pennants series starts this Sunday, February 9 at Tumut.  

Games start at 11am. 

Tumut Grade 6 play Tumut Grade 7 and Tumut Grade 4 play Temora Ex Services.
