Brayden returns to Superstock racing

TUMUT motorcycle star Brayden Elliott is entering his own team, No Bull Racing in Super Stock racing in the UK this year.

Elliott finished racing for DAO Kawasaki at the end of the 2024 season.

“Last year was my rookie season in the premier Superbike category which is where I have always wanted to be,” he said.

“The whole purpose of moving to England is to compete in the premier category as it’s the biggest domestic championship in the world.

“It’s a shame to only have the chance of a single season but at the same time I’m looking forward to returning to Superstock 1000 with my own team, No Bull Racing.”

Elliott previously ran his own team in the past, however after finishing fourth overall in the 2022 championship he closed down the team and accepted the ride with factory Kawasaki.

“The biggest challenge in starting my own team again has been starting from scratch from every aspect,” he said.

He has gone back to managing the team, securing the sponsorship required, building the bike etc.

“I will be on the Honda CBR1000RR-R however it didn’t arrive until late March which still has to be completely converted into a race bike so time has been against me,” he said.

Right now the bike build is 90 per cent complete.

“In reality I should have been testing in Spain throughout December, January, February,” he said.

“The British Superbike Championship first test is at Navarra Spain right now and unfortunately I am missing that due to time and funding.

“I haven’t ridden a bike since the final round in October last year so it’s probably been my longest period off that I can remember.

“It’s unfortunate but it’s just the way the situation has gone.

“My target is to be ready for the official testing when it returns back to England during April for two days at Donington Park and two days at Oulton Park.

“After that we are straight in to round one the following week so I have a lot to iron out over the four days testing.”

Elliott is racing a 2025 Honda CBR1000RR-R in British Superstock 1000.

“The reason I have returned to Superstock 1000 is because my contract at DAO Racing had come to an end and there weren’t suitable options to stay in Superbike,” he said.

“The category is extremely hard; probably one of the toughest in the world.

“The bike and package needs to be right for anyone to be competitive and I didn’t feel the options I had available would be competitive.

“I don’t want to put in this level of effort and a life dedicated to the sport to ride around mid-pack so therefore the decision was better to return to Superstock.

“The reason I am running my own team is because I believe I can do as good if not better of a job than a lot of teams on the grid.

“I don’t feel many teams put in the same level of effort as I do myself so I would rather do the extra work and be in control of my own future.

Elliott is confident of having a good year.

“I am always confident in my ability,” he said.

“At this level there are so many aspects to determine if a race is successful or not.

“Every member of the team needs to do their job from tyres to chassis to electronics etc.

“I am confident I will arrive to the grid knowing I’ve done everything in my power to give myself the best chance possible and I can’t ask for more than that.

“I haven’t ridden a Superstock bike in a couple of years so I will need to adapt again.

“That being said I am purely using this season as an effort to hopefully show my potential once again, fight at the front and return back to Superbike in the future.

“It was my results in Superstock that earnt me the Superbike ride so I believe I can do it again and hopefully return to a more competitive package.”

Elliott returned home to Tumut at the end of January and early February to see friends and family.

“It was my first time back for a couple years and it was great to be home,” he said.

“It’s funny as when your younger you kind of want to get out of the town and see the world but now I have been living in England for nearly 10 years I really value every minute I have back home and love it.

“I speak to friends and family most days, I actually still have Sounds of the Mountains playing on the radio everyday so it makes me feel at home.

“It’s funny the things you use if you’re ever feeling home sick but for sure it was nice to get back for a couple of weeks.”
