THE Tumut Bulls will be focusing on their own performance when they take on the formidable Wagga Aggies in Wagga tomorrow.
Both sides enjoyed a bye last weekend but prior to that, the Bulls lost 43-15 to CSU Reddies and Aggies scored a crushing 101-0 win over Albury.
Bulls coach Jon Carmody wants his team to be sharper with their skills and mentality.
“We need to build on our own game, and fix a few things in it,” he said.
“We need to attack the ball a bit more and work on our defence and ball movement. The big thing is we need to be up for the game.”
This was a lesson to take out of the loss to Reddies.
“Reddies were right up for that game.”
He is well aware that Aggies will be up for the occasion too.
“They have their 75th anniversary ball that evening, so we need to match their energy,” he said.
The weekend off allowed Tumut players to rest a few niggling injuries and the side that will take the field tomorrow will be virtually full strength.
“There will be a couple of little changes; nothing major,” Carmody said.
“PJ’s coming in for Cody and Aidan Thomas is starting back in first grade.”
Carmody isn’t too concerned about the magnitude of Aggies’ win in their last game.
“Albury are really struggling so you can’t take too much out of it,” he said.
However, he hopes the Bulls will learn from their last match.
“Hopefully we’ve learnt the lesson out of it that we have to be up for it straight from the beginning, and to not make poor decisions and go away from our game plan,” he said.
Second grade coach Aidan Thomas knows exactly what to do to get the best result in their clash with Aggies.
“If we control the tempo of the game we’ll win; it’s as simple as that,” he said.
There will be little in the Bullettes vs Aggies match, with Bullettes sitting in third on the ladder and Aggies fourth.
“We only won by four when we played them early in the year so it’s anyone’s game; I wouldn’t say we’ve got it in the bag,” coach Kylie Jensen said.
