Busy times for Batlow CWA

ON DISPLAY: Batlow’s items which were presented at the recent CWA Hume Group Handicraft Competiton.

WHAT a busy month we have had, with our members working hard on their entries for the Hume Group Handicraft Competition.

The hard work and enthusiasm paid off as just about all our entries came away with a first or second place.

We also have several of our entries selected to go onto state level to be judged against the best of all of NSW.

A list of winners will be posted when we are notified of how we went.

We also entered in the Land Cookery Competition and it seems that a lot of our members are just as good at cooking as they are at handicrafts.

Our secretary, Tina, has been busy attending the International Seminar in Dubbo and also a State Executive meeting in Ballina.

We have booked our street stalls for the coming months and also sorted out our window displays of which we have two.

Our vice president and myself tuned into the online ‘Publicity Support Forum’ but due to Telstra doing work we did not get to see or hear all of it as the line kept dropping out, but what we did manage to see was quite interesting.

The guest speaker was Heather Ewart, host of Backroads on the ABC.

Members that are going to state conference in Wagga in May are making their final arrangements so that they don’t miss out on anything important.

This is the closest state conference that has been to our CWA area, so it will be a firsthand experience for a lot of our members and they are all looking forward to being part of it.

Items that are of interest this year are as follows:

Our country of study this year is South Korea (Republic of Korea)

Fauna: Frogs

Flora: Salt Bush

Foe: Common Myna

Primary Product: Australian Grown Cut Flowers

A Primary Product is chosen each year as a way of promoting Australian Grown Product.

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday 20th March in our rooms. Starting time is 12.30pm for 1pm start.
