SATURDAY’S Tumut Charity Golf Day, one of the biggest events on the Tumut calendar, was a smash hit, raising $34,000 for Frontier Research.
“The auction raised $19,800 and there will be a little bit on top of that, so it might get to 36 or $37,000,” organiser Jane Dean said.
A very impressive roll up of 134 golfers, one of the biggest fields in the event’s history and many from far and wide, took part on the day.
“It went really smoothly; they all went around really well with good timing,” she said.
Australian Idol contestant and well-known local singer-songwriter-guitarist Jess Crossman provided the musical entertainment and her performance went down very well.
“Jess Crossman was absolutely amazing signing,” Jane said.
The skies looking threatening at times, but the weather came to the party, and conditions were perfect for golf, a cool breeze just enough to keep everyone comfortable.
“The auctions went really well and Snowy Hydro donated $5000,” co-organiser Grace Dean said.
The raffles and 100 Club were also very successful, and a big crowd hung around to about 11-11.30pm on Saturday night.
“Even people who didn’t play on the day came for the auction,” Jane said.
The day would have run as well without the many volunteers helping out.
“We had lots of helpers, and we couldn’t have done it without them; they were amazing,” she said.
Major raffle winners were Ryan Boyd, Peck Crampton, Briana Ann Frost, Jane Dean, Andrew Cooper, Jess Broad, Jimmy McGrath, Sophie Day and Matthew Webb.
The 100 Club winners were Mat Chapman, Mick Weir and Mark Rolles.
