An investigation is underway after a heavy vehicle carrying chemicals crashed near Adelong yesterday afternoon.
About 5.30pm Monday, emergency services responded to reports that a B-double prime mover had crashed down an embankment at the intersection of the Snowy Mountains Highway and Sandy Gully Road, Adelong.
The 55-year-old driver was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Fire and Rescue NSW’s HAZMAT crew worked to contain a leak from one of the trailers.
A recovery operation is currently underway to remove the heavy vehicle which is expected to continue until mid-afternoon today. Motorists should expect some minor delays.
