VOLUNTEERS Week has been celebrated across the shire this week with plenty of yummy morning teas, lunches, fun and big thank you’s.

At the Tumut Library yesterday a morning tea was held to thank a few of the regular helpers as well as welcoming some prospective new volunteers.

Assistant Librarian Leticia Wishart welcomed the visitors and volunteers to the centre and asked a few questions of those who were thinking of joining the band of helpers.

Ms Wishart outlined the roles available at the library on a casual basis which included home deliveries, assisting with storytime/pre-school visits, assisting during the school holiday programs and family history assistance and technical support for those who want some extra help.

Although it was a small group that attended the feeling was very positive with some new residents to the area being made especially welcome.
