Fashionistas flock to Tumut races

There was a sea of blue and white as the A&S Groves Fashions on the Field took over Tumut racecourse on Saturday.

Over 100 competitors fought for top honours in the nine categories and it was Braidwood’s Brittney Tamou who took home the top prize, winning Lady of the Day and Champion of Champions.

“Tumut racecourse is absolutely beautiful, I didn’t realize what it was like here until today,” Mrs Tamou said.

“I will definitely be back next year and I will be sharing the photos to all my friends; today has been fantastic.”

Griffith’s Elizabeth Patterson was judged to have the most Exquisite Millinery and Michael Carter, who ventured to Tumut from Melbourne, was named Gentleman of the Day.

“We are on a bit of a bushfire tour and we are trying to support towns and regions impacted by the bushfires,” Carter said.

“No one told us just how beautiful Tumut is; you just don’t expect it until you get here and see it.”

In the couples, Canberra’s Trevor Dhu and Sally Martin emerged victorious, while their daughter Emilie Dhu stole the show in the Belle of the Day category.

Filly of the Day saw local competitor Jacee Lucas get the prize, while Beau of the Day went to young Barclay Tamou, who travelled down with mother, Brittney Tamou.
