THE Tumut branch of Fire and Rescue held its open day on Saturday with quite a number of visitors to the station – the kids especially thrilled to see fire trucks and equipment, the sound of the sirens and the lights whirling.

Captain Mick Ivill said it was a good morning and there had been a stream of visitors through the station.

On board to talk to the visitors were Antony Bottero, Mick Ivill, Breanda Howard, Richard Hood and Dan Booby.

A barbecue lunch was also offered to visitors.

Fire and Rescue stations were opened across the district for the day and included activities such as the barbecue lunch, firefighting demonstrations, free station tours and safety presentations.
