IN a heartwarming display of community spirit and teamwork, Stage 3 students at Franklin Public School recently held a successful fundraiser to support their Year 6 Farewell and provide a token of appreciation to the school for the invaluable education they have received over the past seven years.

The event was not only a celebration of their achievements but also a testament to the skills they have developed under the guidance of their dedicated teachers.

From the outset, Stage 3 teachers played a pivotal role in mentoring the students through the entire fundraising process. They encouraged the young learners to take the reins, leading them in the organisation of stalls, advertising, and resource management. This hands-on approach not only fostered skills in organisation and collaboration but also instilled resilience as students navigated the challenges that come with planning a large-scale event.

On the day of the fundraiser, the school grounds were alive with excitement as students set up a variety of activity stations, each costing just 50 cents to participate. From engaging games to creative workshops, there was something for everyone, drawing in not only their fellow students but also younger children eager to join in the fun. The Stage 3 students took on the role of leaders, encouraging their younger peers to participate, ensuring that all were included and able to enjoy the day’s activities. Their enthusiasm and support created a vibrant atmosphere, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

The generosity of the Franklin community was evident, as families and friends turned out in droves to support the cause. Initially, the Stage 3 students had hoped to raise $500, a figure they believed would be a significant contribution towards their farewell and a meaningful gift for the school. However, as the day progressed, they were astounded to count a final tally of $1,760—a remarkable achievement that surpassed all their expectations.

Principal Emilie Rossington expressed immense pride in the students’ efforts, stating, “This fundraiser was not just about raising money; it was an opportunity for our Stage 3 students to demonstrate their leadership skills and give back to the school community. We are incredibly grateful to the Franklin community for their generosity and support.”

The funds raised will go towards making the Year 6 Farewell a special occasion, as well as providing a lasting token of appreciation for the school, symbolising the strong connections formed over the years. As the Year 6 students prepare to transition to high school, this fundraiser has not only cemented lasting memories but has also highlighted the importance of community, collaboration, and giving back.

“A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to this fantastic event,” a school spokesperson said.

“The Stage 3 students have showcased their capability to make a positive impact, and their hard work and dedication have certainly paid off. With their remarkable achievement, they are leaving a lasting legacy at Franklin as they embark on the next chapter of their educational journey.”
