C Grade

The Blue team came out firing in the latest C Grade match with Mitchell Oberholzer the first to find the back of the net after some strong lead up work from Izzy Dodd. Henry Piper followed up with a remarkable solo effort, weaving through the opposition’s defence to double the lead. Ashley Pearce was determined not to let her team’s lead slip, tackling hard and also scoring a goal. Ollie Dodds and Ollie Ridley combined to get the Blue team’s fourth goal of the match.

For Orange, Toby Ridley and Clay Sutton showed solid defensive work, but the opposing team’s relentless attack eventually broke through. Mila Webb and Everly Webb were crucial in the midfield, battling to regain control and push forward, while Maggie Piper and Danielle Oberholzer worked tirelessly up front, creating opportunities and putting pressure on the opposition. Billy Bathgate made several impressive saves in the final stanza that kept the scoreline to four goals to nil.

B Grade

In a thrilling field hockey match between the Bibs and Bobs, Katie Jeffery’s impressive strike opened the scoring for Bobs. Bibs struck back with a great shot from Will Maddern and it was game on!

Sam Hilly, Cully Reynolds, and Lilly Rosetta played well, with their teamwork and coordination proving vital in maintaining control throughout the match. Alex Day, Gracie Massey, and Hugo Adams each showed determination and their growing confidence contributed to a strong overall team performance. Chloe Pearce sealed the win for Bob’s with a decisive goal in the dying seconds, showcasing her sharp skills on the field.

A Grade

Wildcats 1 v Quicksticks 1

Once again, Wildcats and Quicksticks could not be separated. Despite both teams having plenty of scoring opportunities, the game resulted in a 1 all draw. Mel Thatcher was very vocal in the goals, providing directions for the defensive structure… and Quicksticks attack.

Jane Hockey returned from injury in fine form, making some great clearances out of defence and Naomi Jeffery distributed the play through the centre, much like how bedbugs had distributed themselves after the Masters Tournament.

By half time, both teams were yet to score but after a free hit from just outside 25, Linda Cotterill made a brilliant lead into the circle and connected confidently to score the first and only wildcats goals of the game. Taylor Kelly scored for Quicksticks.

Middy Mites 1 v Mustangs 1

In an even match, Mustangs and Middy Mites saw play swing from end to end with opportunities for both teams. Kahlia Flew was solid as ever in goal, saving Mustang’s on plenty of occasions and Mustangs were extremely grateful to Chelsea Webb for filling in, and she played a controlled and strong game in defence.

Xander Suter formed a strong combination with Gabby Hicks and Chloe Pearce down the left hand side for Mustangs, creating plenty of chances.

Mustangs’ Alicia Magann and Donna Carroll were crisp with their passes and found the ever dangerous Carly Adams and Zoe Bathgate ready to attack at every opportunity.

For Middy Mites, Amanda Kendall and Charlotte Kelly were strong in attack. Sara Hannan and Lilly Rosetta worked well in defence. Charlotte Hannan was very adaptive in attack and then defence with the guidance of Trish Whitburn and Bec Connolly. This allowed Lyndal Hannan to come forward and her big hits really helped Middy Mites, with a pass across the circle to Kerry McDonald resulting in the first goal for the game.

Mustangs quickly evened the score with Lyn Bathgate hitting a nice ball to Gabby Hicks, who positioned herself perfectly in the circle to score for Mustangs and level the scores at 1 all.
