C Grade
The C Grade game was played in great spirits with all players bringing a great attitude. Ashley Pearce was full of running and carried the ball strongly for her team. She scored once and was unlucky not to find the back of the net on more occasions. Remmy Richards showed focus and positioning to pull off some great tackles and looked to find Gracie Magann with her passes. Toby Ridley and Mitchell Oberholzer used smart passes and positioning to promote the ball for their team. Billy Bathgate had a strong game for his team, scoring a goal and looking to promote the ball to his teammates, Maggie Piper and Taya Flett who positioned themselves well. Ollie Dodds also had a great game, scoring a goal, tackling like a demon and pouncing on loose balls all over the field. Lane Flett was another to impress, looking for smart passes and also showing a desire to attack. Billy and Lane took home the Whisk and Disk players of the game.
B Grade
B Grade had a very close and exciting game with Zoe Bathgate scoring a great first goal for the bibs. The non bibs came back though with Tom Belt scoring with the help of Ara Flett and Taylor Kelly. Both teams had really great passing and talking and made some really great runs up the field. Paige Kelly made the score 1-2 to the bibs with a great goal. After halftime Jessica Barnard was able to find the back of the net with a sneaky tap around a defender, not once, but twice. The play for the second half was just as good as in the first with lots of talking and some really great hits and passes. Chloe Pearce came in at the end though with an amazing goal for the non bibs which finished the game 5-3 to the bibs. Whisk and Dish players of the day went to Tom Belt and Paige Kelly.
A Grade
Quicksticks 3 v Middy Mites 3: The game between Quicksticks and Middy Mites was a close encounter with play swinging from one end to the other. Sisters Regan and Sharni combined well on the right hand side for Quicksticks. Molly Salmon was solid in defence and young guns Taylor and Paige Kelly ran tirelessly for Quicksticks to put pressure on the Middy Mites defence.
Pip McAlister and Lyndal Hannan both defended well for Middy Mites and continuously pushed the ball towards the forward line, where Amanda Kendall, Sara Hannan, Charlotte Kelly, Lily Rosetta and Charlotte Hannan worked well to move Middy Mites into some good attacking positions. Amanda Kendall scored twice and Charlotte Hannan got a beautiful goal for Middy Mites. Quicksticks also scored three times, with Bun Maher, Taylah Wilson and Paige Kelly all scoring, making the game a three all draw.
Wildcats 1 v Mustangs 0: The match between Wildcats and Mustangs was the first time this season these two teams had met. It turned out to be a very even game with the first half of the match seeing both teams unable to score.
Wildcats were made to work for their victory over Mustangs with the game in the balance right to the very last whistle. For Wildcats Maddi Sutton and Will Maddern worked tirelessly in attack, making many breaks up the field. Erin Tobin put a sneaky goal away late in the second for Wildcats to make the score 1-0. Xander Suter, Chloe Pearce and Zoe Bathgate controlled the left hand side of the field for Mustangs, creating chances and using their pace to trouble the Wildcat’s defence.
Maree Oddy and Andrea Glynn combined well on the right and Kelly Flew was always an attacking threat. Alicia Magann was tireless in defence and Donna Carroll and Michelle Post made the Wildcat attack work hard to penetrate the circle. Kahlia Flew again was strong in goal. Chloe Pearce took home the Whisk and Dish voucher for her efforts in attack and defence. Mustangs Donna Carroll and Alicia Mcgann were both solid in defence. Mustangs had several chances to attack through Maree Fannin and Zoe Bathgate but were unable to capitalise. Mustangs last chance came down to a penalty corner in the last minute of the game. Wildcats were determined to make it a win and defended the corner until the final whistle. Wildcats walked away with a 1-0 win over the Mustangs.
