Mackillop claim McAuley house bragging rights

Last Friday, students aged eight to 16 competed in various events at McAuley Catholic Central School’s annual swimming carnival at Tumut pool.

Whether they were competing in races or cheering their teammates on from the side of the pool, all students got involved and demonstrated their sportsmanship and enthusiastic school spirit.

Students dressed proudly in their house colours – blue for Mackillop, green for Therry and red for Chisholm – and lots of parents and friends were also there to support the students.

Mackillop were the champions of the carnival once again, taking first place with 1255 points and proving it is the dominant house when it comes to swimming. In second place was Therry with 709 points, and in third place was Chisholm with 579 points.

Various students were named age champions and runners up in their respective age group:

8yrs Champions – Isabella Oliver, Fletcher McKay; Runners up – Alice Webb, Cody Vickery.

9yrs Champions – Chloe Pearce, Ethan Buckley; Runners up – Olivia Forsyth, Brad Beavan.

10yrs Champions – Sophie Webb, Ashton Ambrose; Runners up – Zoe Carter, Joe Pearce.

11yrs Champions – Macy White, Sidney Roche; Runners up – Ava Lindley, Cooper Ambrose.

12yrs Champions Primary – Natalie Mather, Ethan Watts; Runners up – Georgie Austen, Isaac Rasanen.

12yrs Champion Secondary – Zahli Dean, Runner up – Missy Ryan.

13yrs Champions – Annabel Roche, William Smith; Runners up – Jaida Smith, Daniel Stiles.

14yrs Champions – Ellisha Olsen, Kai Skein-Bruijns; Runners up – Chloe Turnbull, Liam Buckley.

15yrs Champions – Maya Stiles, Jacob Ambrose; Runners up – Elly Dumbrell, Callum Dean.

16yrs Champions – May Roche, Aiden Rossiter; Runners up – Jessica Kelly, Coleby Duck.

Although they didn’t compete the younger students didn’t miss out on the fun, playing games together in the smaller, heated pool.
