Man dies after crash near Tumut

A passenger died after the car he was traveling in left the road near Tumut this morning.

Emergency services were called to Wee Jasper Road at Bombowlee, about eight kilometres from Tumut, about 7.40am after reports a vehicle had left the road and hit an embankment.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was uninjured. The passenger, a 40-year-old Tumut man, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The driver was taken to Wagga Wagga Hospital for scans and mandatory testing and will be interviewed by investigators once he is released.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
