MCAULEY Catholic College Primary Campus’s $5.6 million redevelopment is running on scheduled and due to be finished in June next year.
The majority of the old campus is being demolished (and much of it already has been) and a new administration building, library, classrooms and learning areas to be built.
“We also have a new canteen coming and a new outdoor undercover play area so the kids can play handball etc,” Assistant Principal Mark Harmer said.
Mr Harmer and Principal Eamonn Moore said the students have settled into the temporary calssrooms really well.
“The last part of the development will be to remove and transport away the temporary classrooms and improve access to the new development, including disability access,” Mr Moore said.
The $5.6 million project is being funded by a $1.5 million block grant from the NSW and Federal Government and the rest from Catholic Education in Canberra.
“It will make the school more modern, safe and accessible,” Mr Moore said.
“It will be great for the town an great for the community.’
He said there had been a lot of positive community feedback about the redevelopment.
“Enrolments are strong and we are at capacity at every level,” he said.
McAuley year 4 student Estelle Cini and her fellow students are enjoying watch the work on the project.
“They are destroying all the old classrooms and it is really cool,” she said.
“After school, we all go over and watch. Mr Harmer said it is going to be like a new school, and we are excited for that.”
