Saturday was the U15’s and U16LT Pink Indigenous round and the players wore Pink Jerseys with some local art designed by Shane Herrington.

Shane also performed a smoking ceremony and played the didgeridoo before giving all in attendance a welcome to country with an outline on what NAIDOC Week represents.

The crowd and players all appreciated the words and ceremony performed by Shane.

The team also need to be commended on their efforts in wet and cold conditions selling tickets in their Charity day to raise money for Tumuts Can Assist and Beyond Blue.

A big shout out to Bernie and Kelly Smith who donated a dressed Lamb, and Roddy Engineering who donated a Tumut Blues Fire Bucket for the team to raffle.

Under 8s Blue

The DME Under 8 Blues hosted Turvey Park last Saturday in their final home game for the 2024 season.

In icy conditions it was Turvey Park that got the early break scoring a long range try from the kick off. From there it was all Tumut as the boys acclimatised to the wind and rain and went about their business. Strong running, smart offloads and stinging defence was the theme for the young Blues and every player was a willing contributor.

Cord Day, Emmett Brown and Lincoln Roberts were impressive in defence and laid the platform for first half tries to Archie Watkins, Hank Manton and Bryce Day.

Whilst the weather continued to deteriorate in the second half, the home side’s resolve did not as once again they used their defence to attack and win field position. Caleb Thomas led the way in defence for the Blues while Eli Thomas steered the team around with confidence from first receiver.

Under 8s White

The Blues farewelled Twickenham with an emphatic 9 tries to 3 performance.

The DME Under 8 White boys kicked off the day in freezing conditions by for the first game of the day and took a while to warm up and get into the game. It was a close fought encounter between the two sides with our boys coming out on top by one try in the end.

All of the boys should be really proud of their efforts with the game played in great spirit and showed good teamwork. They are really starting to gel as a team.

The try scorers this week were Jack Purcell, Drae Grady and Cooper Bauer.

Under 10s

It was a cold & wet day of footy for the U10’s Pie in the sky team, the boys really conducted themselves to a high level of footy for the conditions they endured.

With Jayden David controlling the game in the first half finding the corner with every kick, the defensive effort from the whole team lead by Eddie Johnston and Lewie Harris really set the platform.

Kruz Annetts scored two tries and Eddie Johnston also scored a try in the first half.

As the wind really started to howl across the ground the boys went to the next level for the second half, the tempo picked up and the boys really started to make metres with Hayden, Aiden, Darcy Roddy and Patrick Pollack all making some really good runs.

It was a great team effort from all of them.

We would also like to thank the parents who braved the weather to bring the boys to the game.

Under 10s League Tag White

The Sports Power under 10’s League Tag white team braved the wet and wild conditions showcasing their teamwork for the duration of the game.

Elise O’Brien had her best game yet scoring two tries, and splitting the defense every time she touched the ball.

Ava Manton showcased her team first attitude providing confidence to her team mates, consistently backing them up when they had the ball in hand. It was a great team effort by all the girls.

Under 11s

The T & K Jamieson Under 11’s faced off against a much bigger Turvey Park team in cold and wet conditions.

The game started with the Tumut boys dominating field position through some good discipline and respect for the ball in the wet weather. Jimmy O’Connell again showcased his blistering speed to avoid defenders scoring a length of the field try.

Jack Carroll has continued his improvement this year, with his effort plays being rewarded with a four pointer after chasing a well placed kick by Angus Dunkerton.

Team captain Noah Thomas lead from the front for the entire game, making many text book tackles and troubling the defense every time he touched the ball.

While the cold conditions challenged the boys it was great to see the team work and comradery help the boys get through the game.

Under 12 White

Tumut Machell Bros Under 12 White came up against a fiery Turvey Park side on Saturday. In what was played in wet windy conditions, but that didn’t stop the boys with Tumut coming out with the win 24-6 for the last home game.

All of the boys worked together putting plenty of pressure on the Turvey Park side.

Taite Power and Colten Newland got away and both scored, along with Khobi Bousfield also running many metres coming away with two tries.

Lucas Coulton-Bye and Oscar Welsh shared the goal kicking with all of them being converted.

Under 15s

The Snowy Mountains Honey played a tough game in trying conditions at Twickenham against Turvey Park on Saturday.

The boys did enough to get a win 14-6 against the Lions.

Tumut started the game very well with the boys defending strongly before putting on two nice tries after backline movements setting up a try each to Nate Annetts and Jack Doon.

After this point Tumut seemed to get sucked into Turveys game and started not completing sets and putting pressure on themselves.

To the boys credit they defended well and held off the Turvey Park attacking raids with some good scrambling defense.

Turvey crossed for their only try in the game taking the score to 8-6 at half time. The second half was riddled with mistakes from both teams and Tumut continued to scramble well in defence before Harley Adams crossed for a well deserved try.

Will Jamieson converted this try taking the final score to 14-6 in favour of the young Blues.

For Tumut Jack Doon had a strong game at centre hitting some nice lines in attack making several breaks and also defending strongly.

This earned him the praise of his teammates and the McDonalds Players Player award. Others to perform well and earn the KFC Awards were Declan McMahon and Cohen Keenan who played at Dummy Half with both boys playing smart around the ruck and defending tirelessly.

U14 play up player Will Jamieson was outstanding and performed as one of Tumuts best in tough conditions. Aidan Turnbull also played well at Halfback with a good kicking game putting the Lions under pressure at vital times of the game.
