Rory back on stage

Tumut musician Rory Phillips will perform for a live audience for the first time in six months in Wagga this Friday.

Tumut singer-songwriter-guitarist Rory Phillips will be back where every musician wants to be this Friday night – on stage, performing live for an audience.

Rory, 13, will perform at Wagga Civic Theatre on Friday as part of the Theatre’s “Re-Ignite” program.

He will be playing the concert with a group of artists from around the Wagga region, Joel Harrison, Kylie Daly, Dane Kennedy, Sam Campbell-McCrea, Michelle Robertson, Phoebe and Steve and Daniel Tooze.

Rory said it was really good to be getting back on stage.

“I’ve been waiting so long, and I’m hoping to come back with a bang,” he said.

The last time Rory performed live was on March 14 this year with Fanny Lumsden at Tooma.

“I’ve been missing it,” he said.

He has, however, been busy practicing and improving his skills.

“Hopefully, that will make a bit of a difference on Friday,” he said.

He has plenty of experience playing at the Civic Theatre and is looking forward to performing there again.

“It’s a great facility; I love it,” he said.

He first performed there at an Australia Day talent quest three years ago and will be performing there again at Art State, which is put on by Eastern Riverina Arts, on November 7.
