IT’S on again – the Tumut Winter Fun Run is happening on Sunday, June 16 with funds raised going to CanAssist (Tumut branch) and you can help support this group.
Organised through the Tumut Lions Club this annual event is now in its 44th year and has proven to be a very popular local event. Supporting the run again this year is Visy which started the fundraising with a $500 donation.
Registrations are open (see links below) now and numbers are growing already, so jump onto the website and put your name in.
There are three options for this event – run a 10km course; run a 5km course or walk a 2.5km pathway.
All events start at the Pioneer Park – and will kick off at around 10am – no registrations on the day as has been the case over the past 3-4 years.Their course runs beside the river past the caravan park to the wetlands and returns to the Pioneer Park.
The 2.5km walk will commence at Pioneer Park, beside the river to the Riverside Cafe where a turnaround point is located and then back. The event caters for all ability runners and walkers.Lions Club coordinator of the event Noel Armour said this would be his last year in running this event as after 14 years, and not being so young anymore – it is time to pass the baton over to someone else.
“We used to run this event in conjunction with the annual festival but for some years now we have run it independently – with CanAssist being a partner for quite a few years.
“We rely on volunteers to help organise and monitor this event – CanAssist volunteers are part of this event also,” Mr Armour said.
And as in the past the event was held as part of the Tumut Festival further information can be gained by going to the Tumut Festival Fun Run facebook page.
