THE Commercial Sharks women’s rugby league team may have broken a pre-season competition record in not conceding a single point in their 2025 Tumut Old Boys Nines campaign.
The Sharks feat, scoring 159 points and conceding none in six matches, is, according to Tumut Old Boys research, unprecedented.
“In 2025, the Sharks remained undefeated, playing matches at Tumbarumba, Batlow, Adelong and Tumut,” Tumut Old Boys’ Barry Madigan said.
The Sharks defeated Tumbarumba 23-0, Gundagai 25-0, Adelong 22-0, Adelong again 15-0, Tumbarumba again 42-0 and in the Pearl Jeffery Plate Final, Gundagai 32-0. The Sharks’ Michelle Perry was named player of the tournament and leading tryscorer.
“Our research has failed to show a women’s Nines comp going through six rounds of games without having a point scored against them,” Madigan said.
“We believe this is a record. Well done girls.”
The Sharks were coached by Justin Keenan and managed by Chelsea Angus. Their player list consisted of Michelle Perry, Tanaye Castles, Ella Bradshaw, Chelsea Angus, Georgia Bywater, Kiahan Bellchambers, Mackenzie Day, Carlie French, Jade Bellchambers, Sarah Porter, Maddy Pont, Merelita Natavo, Vakaoca Noa and Liddy Colah.
Their success has led to Tumut fielding a women’s tackle side in the Group 9 competition this year, as well as continuing the League Tag side.
