Sleep Impact

Footage shared on Facebook by Canberra’s David Marriott shows the moment the meteor lit up the sky on Saturday morning.

DOGS, cats and night-owls were startled by the loud roar of a meteor tearing through the atmosphere on Saturday morning.

Falling at around 2.45am, the meteor caused a sonic boom which lightly rattled the earth and was followed by a chorus of dogs howling at the late-night disturbance.

Commenters on Facebook fell into two camps; those who felt and heard the event, and those who slept right through it.
