Special Rate Variation received 580 submissions

Out of 580 submissions received for the Snowy Valley’s proposed Special Rate Variation (SRV), 495 were template letters.

Council staff are currently reviewing the submissions to compile a report for the Snowy Valley Council’s Ordinary Meeting in June.

The first public comment period has closed, but the Snowy Valleys Council pledged another public consultation period will be held if the proposed SRV of 25.44 per cent is adopted as part of the council’s Operational Plan.

Adoption into the Operational Plan will not automatically bring the SRV into effect. That decision will be left to the newly-elected council to decide this November.

Further community engagement will begin after the June SRV meeting.

“This will include conversations with the community about how to find the right balance between service levels and income generated by rates and user fees,” said CEO Matt Hyde.

Consultation will include community meetings, focus groups and surveys and the feedback received will be presented to the newly-elected council later this year.

The newly-elected council will then vote on whether they will submit an SRV application to IPART or reject the proposal.
