Stolen car torched at common

Police are investigating a car fire at the rear of the Tumut Bush Common on Sunday morning.

Tumut Fire and Rescue were called to the scene of the fire at about 7.30am on Sunday and a crew arrived to find the vehicle, a Honda Odyessy SUV that had been stolen from a council depot on either Friday or Saturday, fully engulfed by fire and beyond saving.

They were joined by the Rural Fire Service and police.

It took the crew 15 minutes to douse the flames and another 15 minutes to ensure it was completely out. It was in an open area and no bushland was ignited.
