Timberwolves under 18s dominate division

The Wangaratta Basketball Carnival witnessed an outstanding performance by the Tumut Timberwolves in the U18 Boys Division 2. 

Tumut showcased their prowess and skill on the basketball court, securing victories in all their games and ultimately clinching the championship title.

Throughout the tournament, Tumut demonstrated remarkable teamwork and determination, improving with each game. Their journey to the top was marked by impressive victories:

• Game 1: Tumut 77 vs Euroa 55

• Game 2: Tumut 63 vs Tatura 54

• Game 3: Tumut 71 vs Myrtleford 51

• Game 4: Tumut 73 vs Mansfield 40

• Game 5: Tumut 50 vs Deniliquin 31

In the grand final, Tumut faced the undefeated team from pool B, Wodonga. Wodonga started strongly, but Tumut persisted with their game style, which ultimately put them in front on the scoreboard. Although the game see-sawed over the remaining time, Tumut’s ability to close out each quarter and stay composed in the final few minutes resulted in victory with a final score of 58 to 49. 

MVP of the grand final was Tumut’s Archie Webb.

The tournament victory was a fitting reward for the team’s dedication to training over the last few months and a great start to their representative season.
