TUMUT 7s bowlers came up against Gundagai 6’s last Sunday and it was a thrilling finish in the end.
After leading for most of the matches Tumut were just pipped at the post by their rivals finishing just three shots down overall.
For the 4th round of Pennants, the Gundagai 6’s travelled to Tumut to take on their 7’s side.
It was, in a biblical sense, Gundagai’s crucible as well as a severe wakeup call, as Tumut dominated for most of the contest causing heart rates and blood pressure to skyrocket.
On the brink of defeat, it took a concerted effort from the Gundagai players to hang in there and claw back into the contest.
Ultimately the grit and determination on Gundagai’s part paid off as the visitors won the aggregate 59 shots to 56 and won two out of the 3 rinks to accrue 9 match points.
This coming Sunday it will be a double-header for Round 5 of the Pennants competition, with the Gundagai 6’s playing host to the Tumut 6’s in what is sure to be a hotly contested affair and the Gundagai 7’s will be up against their Adelong 7’s counterparts and will be looking to not only restore pride but crucially score important match points as well.
