TUMUT High School’s under 15 basketball team has made it through to the top eight state school teams in NSW after a superb performance at the CHS Top 20 Knockout on the South Coast last week.
They are now through to the final round, CHS Top Eight Knockout in Sutherland in early November, meaning they are in the top eight state school teams in the state.
At the tournament last week, Tumut High took on Bathurst High in their first match, and prevailed 66-48.
Tumut then came up against the very formidable Sydney Boys High team in their second match, and lost 62-46. The final margin does no justice to the Tumut boys’ effort, as the half time score was 27-all.
They won their third game against Figtree High School to the tune of 70-52, and this qualified them for the final round of the Knockout.
The team consists of Khobi Bousfield, Drew Hamilton, Jai Crampton, Aaron Wickman, Parker Loneragan, Will Jamieson, Hobie Baker and Julius Percival.
“We’re so excited for the boys,” Tumut High School head PE teacher Sarah Norton said.
“They have worked so hard. They play locally in the local comp and they were training in the holidays; they train a lot. The boys are great sportsmen and great role models for the school and for the town. We’d like to thank Scott and Michelle Crampton for coaching and managing the team, and Jazmine Crampton for refereeing”.
