Tumut night tennis welcomes warmer weather

With only two rounds remaining in the 2022 Tumut Lawn Tennis Club night tennis competition, it was great to see a full complement of matches played in round eight on Tuesday and Thursday. 

On Tuesday night, Team 3 defeated Team 4, 36 – 34 and Team 2 were too good for Team 1, winning 47 – 28.

Set winners were Craig Cullinger, Darren Dean and Christelle Van Zyl. 

Good scoring was achieved by Larry Larder and Juan Van Zyl, with the pair only dropping one game on the night.

Shane Brasen also scored well for Team 4, notching 20 games.

The club offered a special thank you to Cay-Lynn Van Zyl, who reserved at last minute’s notice.

In Thursday night results, Team 1 won an entertaining game against Team 2, 36 – 33 and in another close match, Team 3 edged Team 4, 39 – 37.

Players to win all their sets were Lachlan Roche and Darren Dean. 

Others to excel were Larry Larder with 22 points and Matthew Ferguson and Preston Loneragan both scored 21. 

Doubles match of the night was a draw between Nathan Ferguson/Darren Dean and Larry Larder/ Murray Barrett.

Friday juniors enjoyed a very warm afternoon, with only eight players attending.

The club thanked Dave Morgan and Nathan Ferguson for their assistance.

The club would like to acknowledge members who rolled up their sleeves for the working bee last Saturday with Dallas Cribb, Stuart Tozer and committee members Dave Morgan and Letitia Burns getting the work done.
