The U6 High Country Tumut Eagles Gold had a great day out for our last home game of the year.
Lake Albert came to Tumut with only three players so we played 3 on 3 and had a good game.
Mia is a superstar and had some great plays during the game but her first goal was fantastic, with a booming boot she kicked a goal from halfway straight through defenders. Will is a little Jack rabbit and never stops. He is always getting back to stop the opponents attack and scored a nice goal. Freddie had a great game, with some good team-work and passing. He has great control of the ball when dribbling and always seems to find his way through.
Harland had his best game of the year and got right in the thick of the action. He got in front of the ball and forced some turn overs. He also showed some wonderful passing skills.
Kingsley is a fantastic player and had some great plays all game. He never stops running and gets back in defence whenever we need him. He showcased some great team work setting up some goals and scored a nice goal himself.
The U7 Domino’s Tumut Eagles played Henwood Park Ravens on a cold and rainy day at the Bull Paddock, for the last home game of the season.
The rain did not deter the little Eagles, who showed a lot of enthusiasm. Lots of fast paced runs were made by both teams and some great slides on the wet field.
Thomas Murray, Ollie Suter, William Dodd, Toby Webber and Jett Withers all scored impressive goals during the match. Smiles all round at the completion of the game. Well done to both teams.
The U8 Murray and Sons Tumut Eagles had a great game against the Wagga Eagles in Tumut, both sides played well throughout the game. Jackson Back had a great game with his strong saves, Clyde Couzens, Abigail Webb and Oscar Smart showed great defence and worked well as a team.
Extra support was provided by Thomas Murray and Ned Henshaw; both boys showed their skills throughout the game.
Chase Ostrowski, April Couzens and Dusty Hodge worked together to support the goalies during the game and all used their passing skills to get the ball up the field towards their goal.
On Saturday, the U9 DME Tumut Eagles played the South Wagga Warriors on a bit of a wet and slippery day. As a coach, I couldn’t be more proud of how the boys played.
The skills they all displayed show how much they have all improved and how much they have learned throughout the Season; they work as a team to move the ball up the field to score goals and are very quick to run back to defend their own goals.
The friends and families that watched the game were all treated to a thrilling game. All the boys Haydon, Ned, Lachie, Leroy, Darcy, Cain, Chad, Ollie, Nathan and Jack should be very happy with the way they play as a team. The boys should enjoy the last few games and get ready for a more challenging year next year on a new size field.
It was definitely a case of the score doesn’t tell the story for the U10 Goodes Eagles.
The team had one of their most solid defensive games for the season and showcased their rock solid work at the back for the final home game for the year.
The well drilled South Wagga side pressed hard for the entire first half but could not get past the hard working defensive unit. This with some courageous goal keeping from Chase Evans.
Jaxon Wells and Lucas Grayland assisted Chase on a number of South Wagga raids and helped force errors and cause much frustration for the visitors.
Hutch Searl used his big kicking ability to place the ball in better field possession on many occasions with the never give up attitude of Riley Dean being another highlight, and Alex Roberts chiming in with his big right foot.
The Wagga team continued the pressure with some lucky goals from deflections making it tough for goalie of the half Eddie Painter to get a hand on the ball that would have evaded 7’ tall men.
Eddie was at his creative best though when he restarted the play from the goal square scheming passes to Harrison Murray, Eric Chapman and Bill Henshaw who would always be ready to spark some attack on the flanks or by passing through the centre to Emmett Broadfoot.
The game really showed how far the boys have come as a team for the year and that they tried hard for each other and for coach Sara from start to finish. Well done lads. We are sure your coach is super proud.
In the last home game of the season Wagga United Crows came to the Bull Paddock to take on the Goodes U10/11 Eagles. Unfortunately they only had six of the required nine players so Lilly put on a bib and played for Wagga.
We also then played 7v7 which was a big ask on the larger field and by the end both teams were running out of puff. Lucy scored her third goal of the season in the first minutes of the game, Elaina had a great first half defending in goals, whilst Candice was very strong in defence.
In the second half Jane had a great half in keeper and Elaina found the back of the net, with both Lucy and Elaina unlucky not to get it past the keeper again. Ashlynn was strong in the midfield and Isabella had some strong runs from the back down the line.
All the girls are to be congratulated in their first season, with many of them only 9 years old and playing up into the 10/11 girls competition.
