FIVE new faces will join with four re-elected members after the Snowy Valleys Council was declared this week.
The new council was finally revealed to candidates and voters on Tuesday following the distribution of preferences on Monday.
Julia Ham was comfortably re-elected, topping the count and securing 15.90 per cent of the 8689 formal votes lodged by Snowy Valleys residents and ratepayers. With 1236 votes, she was one of four candidates elected on primary votes.
Local government newcomer Andrew Wortes (13.07 per cent, 1016 votes), retired Valmar CEO Hugh Packard (10.62 per cent, 826 votes) and incumbent deputy mayor Trina Thomson (10.48 per cent, 815 votes) were also elected on the initial first preference count, easily beating the quota of 778 votes.
That left the remaining ten candidates having to wait until preferences were distributed to determine the final five positions.
New to council, Michael Inglis was the fifth candidate elected, followed by incumbent councillor and former Snowy Valleys mayor James Hayes.
Heading into his very first term as a councillor Grant Hardwick was the seventh candidate to meet the quota.
Incumbent councillor John Larter was elected without meeting the quota, as was council newcomer David Sheldon, claiming the eighth and ninth positions, respectively.
Barney Hyams led the rest of the field that missed out on election, just 17 votes away from Mr Sheldon.
The new Snowy Valleys Council will sit down for an extraordinary meeting next week on October 10, where councillors will be sworn in and a mayor and deputy mayor elected.
The first ordinary meeting of council will be held on October 17.
